Marco Island is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico and is the largest of the 10,000 Islands.
When we visited Marco the first time in 1996, we fell in love instantaneously and have been visiting ever since.
The powder white, miles-long beach from Cape Marco all the way to Hideaway Beach along the majestic Gulf of Mexico is perfect for long casual walks or, if you are in the mood for it, great long runs. It is ideal for shelling, for frequent dolphin sightings and - of course - for the most amazing sunsets.
In our minds, Marco Island truly is paradise on earth.
As a family, we have made many incredible memories here, and plan to make many more for years to come. We hope that you can make your memories here as well !

Marco Island is remote – it truly is away from it all. However, it is within easy reach of several major airports:
Fort Myers (RSW) is the closest – just under an hour drive.
Alternatively, Miami (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) are also within easy reach (about a 2-hour drive) and can be easily combined with exploring the Everglades (don’t miss out on taking an airboat ride to explore this incredible and unique natural habitat).
Punta Gorda (PGD) is 1½ hour away.
Tampa (TPA) is just
under a 3-hour drive.
Marco Island has a tremendous choice of restaurants, several of them within walking distance.
There are supermarkets and several beach boutiques within an easy 5-minute drive.
And there certainly are plenty more options for shopping,
especially if you are up for the drive to nearby Naples (about 35
minutes), with its famous Fifth Avenue, or to the Miromar Outlets in
Estero (about 50 minutes away).
